Feeling Empowered ?

The world suddenly seems to take notice of a Woman's struggles, both at home and at work, as Women's Day approaches. Most brands try to make the most of the day, trying to empathize, promote the strength of character and fight some of the biases. It is ironic that most of it is forgotten almost immediately, by brands as well as organizations, which harp about it all for a week. 

That's just the cynic in me, bringing out the what usually pans out in most organizations.

But there are always bright sides to this. Even if for a week or just a day, some women feel important, and bask in the attention being showered by the organization/ partner and people in general.

If you ask me, I am still waiting for a day when a 'Women's Day' becomes redundant and is not required at all !

Anger & Entitlement

For most of us, a bout of anger can happen often - with or without visible reason -  depending on what our mind/subconscious is saying to us. To the recipient of the harsh words, it may feel uncalled for. But irrespective of the cause, the impact is sobering of mood, dulling of enthusiasm, and a feeling of distaste (even if temporary). But what/where does anger stem from? The more you mull over this question, the more answers you'll find. The most common reasons are ofcourse dissatisfaction, discontent, a feeling of disparity (notice how all the common causes start with dis-). But I'd like to dwell on two causes I've noticed, which are often not highlighted, maybe because we choose not to dwell so deep. The first being guilt and the second being a sense of entitlement. Moments & Milestones

Most of us wait for occasions to celebrate... birthdays... anniversaries ... exam results (though that was more a cause of concern for me ;))... I came from an even more extreme school of thought, where I thought that no day, and everyday is the same.. so why celebrate ! Now, we look for a reason to celebrate.. a Indian team victory... a lost purse found.... anything & everything qualifies as a reason to celebrate..  Maybe I am not as cynical anymore... either-ways, it feels good :) We don't always need a Milestone to celebrate... even the little Moments in life count....
