Money !

As we are growing up, if not earlier, most of us are hit by the reality of money. That we need to make some to survive... and a little more to make life a little better and so on....
Until we grey a little (or a lot :)) and figure out money will never be enough, unless we begin to think that it is !

I am currently reading Going Postal by Terry Pratchett. The characters might appear to be unreal, or is it the world surreal (!!!), but what they say makes a lot of sense... Here goes an extract :

Money in not a thing. It is not even a process. It is a kind of shared dream.
We dream that a small disc of common metal is worth the price of a substantial meal.
Once you wake up from that dream, you can swim in a sea of money.

    That’s beautifully put. It’s true — money only has power because we all agree it does. Once you see past that illusion, the world opens up in strange and liberating ways. It’s like realizing the bars of your cage were made of smoke.

    Very succinctly put. The value human beings have put into a tradable commodity called money as literally the base of every transaction is questionable at times. It does simplify the processes, but on a bigger level, it is essentially nothing. Our value systems have become so distorted that money can have stronger effects than it should. I guess, being satisfied with what we've got takes something.

How do you tell a 9 year old that her father is no more.... As adults, most of us grapple with the thought and logic (if any) behind a dear one leaving us... and I was suddenly left wondering what to say to this 9 year old !!! The Day

What is the significance of Mother's Day...or Father's Day or Valentine's Day. I am not questioning the importance of these people in our lives… but do we require a day to express our love/gratitude towards them. The concept was okay, but the way these days have now been publicised, i feel they've all lost their meaning and initial purpose.Most of these days were celebrated so that unexpressed feelings could be expressed. But now, by the looks of it, it seems that these "days" seems to have lost their glory. In nowadays world, not wishing your parent on Parents day is a gross mistake...not having a valentine is a sin! I might sound cynical…and probably I am…but I feel these days have been hyped too much , leading to absolute loss of meaning and purpose !
