Money !
As we are growing up, if not earlier, most of us are hit by the reality of money. That we need to make some to survive... and a little more to make life a little better and so on....
Until we grey a little (or a lot :)) and figure out money will never be enough, unless we begin to think that it is !
I am currently reading Going Postal by Terry Pratchett. The characters might appear to be unreal, or is it the world surreal (!!!), but what they say makes a lot of sense... Here goes an extract :
Money in not a thing. It is not even a process. It is a kind of shared dream.
We dream that a small disc of common metal is worth the price of a substantial meal.
Once you wake up from that dream, you can swim in a sea of money.
What says you ?
That’s beautifully put. It’s true — money only has power because we all agree it does. Once you see past that illusion, the world opens up in strange and liberating ways. It’s like realizing the bars of your cage were made of smoke.
ReplyDeleteVery succinctly put. The value human beings have put into a tradable commodity called money as literally the base of every transaction is questionable at times. It does simplify the processes, but on a bigger level, it is essentially nothing. Our value systems have become so distorted that money can have stronger effects than it should. I guess, being satisfied with what we've got takes something.
