The Day
What is the significance of Mother's Day...or Father's Day or Valentine's Day.
I am not questioning the importance of these people in our lives… but do we require a day to express our love/gratitude towards them.
The concept was okay, but the way these days have now been publicised, i feel they've all lost their meaning and initial purpose. Most of these days were celebrated so that unexpressed feelings could be expressed.
But now, by the looks of it, it seems that these "days" seems to have lost their glory.
In nowadays world, not wishing your parent on Parents day is a gross mistake...not having a valentine is a sin!
I might sound cynical…and probably I am…but I feel these days have been hyped too much , leading to absolute loss of meaning and purpose !

ReplyDeleteya..it seems to be a hype created and fuelled by the card/bouquet sellers... But i recently realised the actual impact when the characters of a daily soap were celebrating valentines !!
ReplyDeletehmm.....strange....swoosh
ReplyDeleteI agree with you on this part. All these days have lost their true meanings. It's all commercialised. All these are nothing but a marketing mecca of companies like Hallmark...
ReplyDeletehmm... maybe coz we've become used to think this way. I am happy to read ur 'cynical' post coz it makes sense.. but these days dont really lose their meaning. It depends on us again. Its new for me n my mom, and tho I think like u abt such days, the smile on my ma's face when i give her 'i luv u ma' card on that day makes it all very sweet. Last time she went on telling everyone abt how sweet the message inside the card was.. :)
ReplyDeleteI agree , anything is worth the smile on your mother's face. But then, you dont need a special day to express your feelings to her... atleast thats what i feel
ReplyDeleteyou can draw some conclusions by the fact taht there is no victor's day or millionare's day........I don't think these days had lost their charm.......I doubt if they ever had........
